Class Exercise E

Task: Use basic elements (dot, line, shape...) to create 2 abstract / semi-abstract images conveying meaning of these words.

Speed
I use diagonal lines to represent speed. Diagonal lines give people a sense of movement.

Harmony

Avatar Movie Poster
 Description
      Advertisement for the movie Avatar
Logo of McDonalds on the top right
Gradient of colour noticed (Darker on the foreground)
      Background of a forest
Analysis
The logo of McDonalds can be easily spotted with the colour contrast of the advertisement
Gloomy face portrayed by the Avatar
The face is modified - The Avatar has features of a human
The fonts for the descriptive text at the bottom are not visible enough
Interpretation
McDonalds showing support for the movie
It only promotes the movie, but what about McDonalds?
The dark foreground seems to present the presence of evil
Judgment
Consumers are not certain what the advertisement is focusing on (Is McDonalds part of the advertisement or is it a sponsor?) (-)
The gloomy face of the avatar may not appeal to target audience (Hesitant to buy McDonalds?) (-)
The picture doesn’t tell much or entice audience about the story (-)
At least it is not ambiguous in showing that it is something related to Avatar (+)
Colour of the wordings were able to blend properly in the picture (+)
