Task: Dataset 1: Create a table that presents its information as clearly and informative as possible. Dataset 2: Design a graph that does the same.
This class exercise focuses on how information is being presented. Information which can be seen clearly when being presented in one way can be invisible when it is being presented in another way. It is thus important to focus on presenting the information in a correct manner to make it effective.
For the first dataset, it shows the sales representative performance. There are many things that can be looked at. For the updated table, the focus is on the variance to quota since it shows how well the sales representative do as compared to what is expected of them. Those sales representative whose number is in red are under-performing. The table is also arranged in the descending order of the variance to quota. This makes it easier for people to see who are the better performers in the company.

The second dataset is on the department yearly performance. There are many information that can be gathered but it is hard to see the comparison in the form of table. A graph would be a better alternative. The actual figures are in bold while the budget is in dotted line. This makes it easier for people to compare between these two figures. The different groups within the department are denoted with different colours. This makes it easier for people to see what group the line represents.
